Animal rescue

In 2006, the Slovak authorities asked us to help find a new home for two wolves that were being kept in cramped conditions in a garden in eastern Slovakia. They had been found as tiny pups in the forest, their mother possibly the victim of poachers, but now that they were adults it was no longer appropriate - or legal - for them to stay where they were. Finding suitable facilities for large carnivores such as wolves and bears is always difficult, and the state nature conservation authorities had been unable to find anywhere for them in Slovakia. We alerted our partners, the Wolves and Humans Foundation and the Born Free Foundation, and together we set about contacting facilities and organisations throughout Europe. More >>
